However, the Blues boss was wary of a fixture pile-up now that a replay is required at Molineux.
Blues are playing fixture catch-up in the Championship following their Europa League exploits and a 3rd round replay was not really what Hughton would have wanted.
"We are disappointed today," Hughton said after the 0-0 draw.
"I still think with Wolves, as the Premier League team coming here, there was more pressure on them to win here than ourselves.
"But it is another fixture. We could have done without the extra fixture with the amount of games we've got coming up."
Goalkeeper Colin Doyle kept Blues' 4th round hopes alive with a spectacular double save in stoppage time and Hughton praised the Republic of Ireland international.
"It was a brilliant save at the end. It kept us in the tie," Hughton said.
"That is the thing with keepers. They cannot be too troubled for most of the game which was the case today. But we certainly needed Colin at that moment and it earned us a replay."
