Blues' 2-0 home win against the npower Championship title winners and Blackpool's draw at Millwall meant that Blues leap-frogged the Seasiders into fourth place and will now have a second leg play-off semi final home game against Ian Hollway's side.
"It has been a long, hard season," the Blues boss said after the Reading game.
"This was our 60th game but we finished very strong and that shows what we have in the team and the locker.
"We are desperate for the lads to finish off the job and I sincerely hope they can."
