Blues had to work hard in gaining the three points against Paul Jewell's side at St Andrews on Wednesday evening with Nikola Zigic scoring the second of his two goals one minute into stoppage time.
"The late, late show again," the Blues boss said after the game.
"If you score late in the game it certainly shows we've got enough character and resilience in the team that we want to protect this very good home record that we've got.
"We didn't play well, I think they defended very well and we had to as well on the counter-attack.
"I think probably over the 90 minutes we edged it, and I would think their manager would have said certainly they deserved to get a draw, at least.
"It wasn't one of our better performances."
