King was the subject of some booing amongst the Sky Blues supporters at The Ricoh Arena on Saturday but the Blues striker had the last laugh when equalising just two minutes after former Blues striker Garry McSheffrey had given the hosts a 1-0 lead midway through the second half.
"Marlon isn't a kid, he's an experienced player," the Blues boss said after the 1-1 draw.
"I think it's probably tougher if you're a younger player, but Marlon is a player with great experience. He knows the importance of the job he does and you can't allow it to affect you.
"Marlon worked very hard on what was quite a difficult pitch. I thought hiss hold-up play was very good and that's two goals in two games now and I'm pleased for him, particularly coming back to an old club - it always means that little bit more.
"It's an important point. It was important we didn't lose here and how important that will be only the 28th of April will tell."
