McLeish admitted that Blues had not been at their best against David Moyes' side but that he was happy to see the side extend their run to nine games without defeat.
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov gave the home side the lead just five minutes into the game at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon but Seb Larsson equalised for Blues somewhat against the run of play on 22 minutes to earn Blues a hard fought point.
"I didn't think we were at our best, we never started the game particularly well," McLeish said after the 1-1 draw.
"We settled down a bit until half time and then Everton had a little bit of a surge in the second half.
"There was some decent football played in the second half by us but it wasn't a terrific performance by the standards that we've been setting.
"But to come to Goodison, not play that great and get a point I suppose is a fantastic bonus."
