Bruce's View: Liverpool

Blues rode their luck a little at Anfield to gain their first win on their travels since the away win at Leicester City in December last year but Bruce felt that the side deserved a little luck after having none in the two most recent games against Crystal Palace and Fulham.

"We've been playing some good stuff of late, especially at home, but we've not been getting the breaks we deserved," the Blues boss said after the 1-0 win.

"We've rode our luck a little bit today but you need that when you play the top teams like Liverpool.

"Credit to the player because they've stuck at it and ground out a great result today.

Darren Anderton scored the all important winner, his first since joining the club in August, and Bruce gave special praise to the former Spurs and England midfielder after the game.

"I'm delighted for Darren because he's had a really tough time of it through injury over the past eighteen months.

"He's come up here on a pay-as-you play contract and at times I've been tempted to throw him in because of his experience, but we wanted to get him as fit as possible.

"He came on and showed he can make a difference today. He'll remember that goal for a long time."
