Fulham probably had the best chances of the first half but Blues created a few golascoring chances of their own during the second period, Julian Gray's effort the best of those, but the Blues boss admitted that a draw was a fair result.
"It wasn't a classic, admitted Bruce after the 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage, but as the away team we've got to be delighted we've taken a point.
"I thought the longer the game we went on the better we became and probably created the best chance of the game. Julian has done magnificent to get there, but he's slid it past the post.
"A lack of midfield goals has always been our Achilles heel. We only scored 40 goals in the Premiership last year.
"We've tried to address that with the addition of Walter Pandiani, Mikael Forssell and Jermaine Pennant.
"Everybody's got to contribute to be a successful team, goals have to come from everywhere.
"If you go away on the first game of the season you have to be delighted with a draw no matter where you go.
"Today's game had 0-0 written all over it I think."
