Player Ratings v Wolves

Last updated : 09 August 2004 By Richard Barker

Maik Taylor - Perhaps could have done better with Kennedy's free-kick, but it came through a lot of bodies and at pace, and his defenders should have helped him out.

Martin Taylor - Better all round display, with some good distribution, and not too many defensive worries.

Clapham - Defensively ok, but going forwards got into a lot of good positions but failed to deliver.

Cunningham - Better, but still a little shaky.

Upson - Much, much better, and is beginning to return to his early season form.

Johnson - If ten other Blues players had put in half as much effort as this guy, there'd have been no problem at all.

Lazaridis - Frustrating but threatening, and a good return from injury.

Savage - Not at his best, and took a while to get into the game.

Clemence - Up and down, as he so often is, and a terrible miss in the first half.

Forssell - Always carried a threat, and took his goal with ease.

Morrison - Can't be faulted in many aspects of his game, but is so frustrating at times, as if he put half as much effort into his football as his histrionics and goal celebrations, he could possibly make a decent striker.

SUBS:

Hughes - Mind elsewhere, probably Goodison Park, I suspect.

John - Didn't do much, except fluff a great opportunity.

Subs not used: Bennett, Tebily, Cisse.
