With Nottingham Forest Reserves winning 4-3 against Port Vale earlier in the day, Keith Bertschin's side required a point from their final game at Gay Meadow and a stoppage time deflected equaliser saw them clinch the title.

It was by no means easy for Blues however as they fell two goals behind inside the first 25 minutes - Chris Morris bagging a brace for the hosts.

Patrick Kavanagh pulled one back for Blues just before the half time whistle and 11 minutes into the second period Sone Aluko netted the equaliser to make it 2-2.

Just past the hour mark The Shrews took a 3-2 lead with a Steve Leslie header.

With time running out a goalmouth scramble occurred with defender Sam Oji claiming the final touch on a goal which secured a 3-3 draw and the League title for Blues' second string.
