Keith Bertschin's side went into a one goal lead on 25 minutes through Julian Gray and really should have increased their lead before Ben Fairclough equalised for the home side just two minutes before the half time interval.
However, Mikael Forssell scored Blues' second of the night with just 14 minutes of the game remaining to earn Blues a fourth consecutive league win and a precious three points in their quest for the title.
The 2-1 win see's Blues Reserves remain in third place in the Pontin's Holiday's Central League One table but they are now just three points behind Forest with a game in hand on the leaders. Sheffield Wednesday occupy second spot in the table and they are just a point ahead of Blues having played the same ammount of games.
