The Blues winner came from an unlikely source - defender Olivier Tebily heading home from a Carl Motteram corner on 14 minutes (has he ever scored for Blues before? I can't remember him doing so!). Boro: Knight, Reizeger, Cooper, Wilson, Davies, Wheater, Graham, Doriva, Reed, Kennedy, Peacock. Subs: Pennock, Craddock, Grounds, Owen Clough. Blues: Bennett, Tebily, Painter, Oji, Martin Taylor, Alsop, Till, Kilkenny, Barrowman, Morrison, Motteram. Subs: Bagnall, Hall, Parratt, Birley, Howland.
Blues had further chances to increase their lead most notably when Clinton Morrison went close with a low shot just after the break and again when Peter Till was clean through on goal midway through the second half but he dwelled on the ball allowing a Boro defender to block his eventual shot.
The three points at Billingham Synthonia took Keith Bertschin's side up to third place in the Barclays Premiership Reserves League (north) table.
