Eddie Evans In The Middle For Imps Clash

Last updated : 22 October 2004 By Brian Cartlidge

Mr Evans is not on the select group of referees and, as far as I can find out, has never taken charge of a Blues game - certainly not over the past three seasons anyway.

The last time the Greater Manchester official took charge of a Lincoln City game was in their 2-2 away draw against Swansea City on 4th October 2003 when the Imps had three players booked and one sent off. Ben Futcher, Richard Butcher and Peter Gain were shown yellow cards whilst Paul Mayo received a red card for two bookable offences within two minutes during the second half. I bet they're glad to see this bloke again!

So far this season Mr Evans has been in charge of six games and handed out a remarkable 28 yellow cards, although no reds have been brandished. In the last of these games, on Saturday, former Blues striker Craig Fagan was shown a yellow by Mr Evans in Colchester Utd's game at home to MK Dons.

Assistant referees for the game at St Andrew's will be Mr David Hine and Mr Paul Martin.
