Northern Ireland: Maik Taylor

Maik Taylor was again preferred by Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez to keep goal ahead of Manchester United's Roy Carroll for Northern Ireland's Group Six World Cup qualifier against Poland in Warsaw. Team-mate Damien Johnson played no part as he was serving a one-game suspension.

The Blues keeper was in inspired form and a string of fine saves in his man-of-the match performance went a long way to keeping Lawrie Sanchez's side in the game, right up until the 87th minute that is, when Maciej Zurawski headed past Taylor to give the home nation maximum points.

Poland 1-0 Northern Ireland
