Blackburn Rovers 3 Blues 0 .. Match report...

Steve Bruce, rightly disgusted with the shambolic performance at Anfield opted to make 11 changes to his team, which (I'm no mathematician) is just about as many changes to a football team as you can make. I'd go through them all, but check another website instead, as I'm busy and there were lots. People like Danns, Vine, Taylor, etc played though.

Blackburn's first team is stronger than Blues', so when they pick close to a first team against Blues' Reserves, well, it was a mismatch, and Blues did well to not concede for as long as they did. Blackburn missed a host of chances before they eventually scored, but Blues had one or two moments themselves - don't get me wrong though, Blackburn had a lot more.

One concern for Blues was a worrying injury to Richard Kingson who hit his head on the post when dealing with a deep free-kick and being challenged by the giant Christopher Samba. After receiving treatment he returned to his feet before collapsing again, and was attended to by lots of paramedics before being stretchered off and replaced by Colin 'Butterfingers' Doyle who needed two attempts to collect the ball for the rest of the night.

So, positives? For me Stuart Parnaby played very well at right back, whilst Damien Johnson came in and was typically Damien Johnson - he kept the ball well, got stuck in and played well. He'll be needed this season.

Negatives? Daniel De Ridder had a mixed game, but wasn't too effective, whilst Mikael Forssell and Gary O'Connor were powderpuffs against Samba - up front Blues were very, very weak.

Anyway, that was that. Not a lot more to say really. You can't fault Blues for effort, as everyone tried and worked hard, but they just weren't good enough. When you pick eleven reserves, you have a reserve team, and Blackburn took advantage.
