Rate The Ref v Wimbledon (h) - Uriah Rennie

Last updated : 09 August 2004 By Kwacky

Unfortunately this man needs no introductions. There’s no beating about the bush. He’s inept.

This was going to be interesting. He hates the Blues but always supports the bigger team. Which way would he go?

Well, he decided to ruin the game for both parties. He allowed reckless challenges to go unpunished, stopped the game when advantage was clear, missed a couple of shouts for a penalty and made the strangest decision possible. A Wimbledon player was heading for the Blues goal. Purse tracked him and made an excellent tackle. Contact was with the ball and not the player. However, the ref saw something different and stopped play. Purse was going to get booked. If a player is heading directly towards goal and he gets fouled by the last man and at the time of the foul he has control of the ball, the offending player gets a red. Yes? No! A yellow.

Later on Dunn was clearly barged off the ball but the ref merely tapped his shoulder as if to indicate that clipping a player (you American Football fans know what I mean) is legit.

He should be put out to pasture as soon as possible.
