Most of the Rate the Ref reports highlight the inconsistency of the referees in the Premier League. Manchester United, being Manchester United, solve the problem by having their own. Yep, this week’s man in black is a self confessed Man United fan.

The game was allowed to flow but Dermot Gallagher allowed Morrison to be used as a climbing frame and gave free reign to Djemba-Djemba to use any method to win man or ball. Both sides got their fair share of free kicks but all the corners went the way of the visitors.

As expected, controversy surrounds the away goals. Saha appeared to be both off-side and interfering with play when United equalised and there seemed to be nothing wrong with the tackle that led to Ryan Giggs’ free kick that saw Saha give the travellers the lead.

Despite the above his overall approach was fairly sensible and neither side saw yellow or red.
