Now it’s derby day? Last week I said it doesn’t get any easier and it really doesn’t.
We look forward to derby days more than any other game. It’s a day we all enjoy and at times get a little carried away in terms of the levels of violence. Over the past couple of Villa Vs Blues fixtures I must admit self-control of the fans has been superb, and long may this continue. Yes we get angry, and that’s understandable, but we’re better than getting involved in scandalous fight scenes, aren’t we?
Villa have had a decent half season. They sit in a healthy sixth position, with twenty-five points, an upsetting eleven points ahead of us would you believe, and no I’m not pulling your leg. But a win at Villa Park and a win at St. A’s in this derby game will keep us all smiling I’m sure.
On the injury side for Blues, consistent right back, Mario Melchiot may not pass fit after his recent minor injury, which saw him subbed nine minutes before the end of the game last weekend. Luckily with top players such as Stan returning to action we don’t look all that bad. Muzzy Izzet is ruled out again this weekend, after the news that he will need to go under the knife after a recent injury.
As for Villa…in form Lee Hendrie will miss Sunday’s derby game, a big heart break for him I’m sure, after he saw red against Manchester City towards the end of last month. On the other hand, midfielder Thomas Hitlzsperger may make a return after recently returning to training.
I’m looking forward to the occasion, as ever, and I seriously hope and pray Blues can pull off a shock win. Villa have an impressive home form this season and it makes one feel a little nervous. Villa are organised as a unit, and have some players that can punish any premier league team.
I feel Villa have the ability to hold a Blues team that will be fighting for their second away win of the season. For Blues to win every player needs to give 100% and not back out of any challenges.
A score draw is what I feel will be the result this weekend; I just hope Blues can prove me wrong for the better though.
Come on you Blues, give us something to smile about.
