Sky Sports News has reported that Blues have offered around £6.5 million for the 25-year-old Serbia & Montenegro international. Kezman has also been linked with a move to St. James's Park, but Newcastle have yet to take their interests further.
Kezman would be a great addition to Bruce's Birmingham side - in an ideal world Mikael Forssell should pair him next season, but that is yet to be confirmed. It would be a great shame to see the "force" leave St. Andrews after he has done so well for Birmingham this season, netting 16 league goals - which has obviously kept Birmingham in the top half of the Premiership for the majority of this season.
Since the season 2000/2001 Mateja Kezman has netted a great big 89 goals for PSV Eindhoven, 22 of those this season, which would impress anybody connected with football.
The only trouble with purchasing a player from overseas is that it isn't guaranteed that they will be able to settle into either their new club or country. You just have to look at Mr C Dugarry to realise this, I mean don't get me wrong he did a fantastic job in helping Birmingham stay in the top flight last season, but due to his family responsibilities he couldn't carry on with being Birmingham City's number 21.
I'm sure the Gold brothers will look at the situation of Mateja Kezman, and decide whether or not it would be ideal to sign him. If Kezman's form at PSV is anything to go by, I'm sure the Gold brothers will do everything in their power to sign him.
Let's just wait & see...hope Birmingham sign quality, dedicated players, which will help to see Birmingham City maintain a high position in the league for pleasurable seasons to come!
Mateja Kezman
