Ahead to Saturday’s game where any result seems possible. Highflying Everton travel south to Birmingham to take on a Brum outfit that is getting itself sorted out as the weeks pass by. Yes, Blues are finally getting to grips with how to play as a team and for each other - this is paying dividends.
Everton have certainly impressed this season, playing some quality football, picking up results consistently. After the apparent ‘morale battering’ Everton took after the exit of Mr Rooney it seemed unlikely that Everton would have a cracking start to the campaign, and to be sitting third only two successful wins away from top spot is, well brilliant.
David Moyes must have done a great job to keep all his players close and confident in each other’s ability. Moyes also brought in some players that are proving to be great assets, and are performing week in, week out. In Everton’s last six games they have managed an impressive three wins, one draw and only two defeats. Which is impressive.
Everton have a variety of threats, in the likes of two in form players…. Leon Osman, who has three goals to his name so far this season, and Marcus Bent who is proving to be a big hit at Goodison (although he is doubtful for this weekend), with five goals to his name.
This tie saw Blues thrash Everton 3-0, an evening I fondly remember – it was a freezing cold, Tuesday evening. The football was that thrilling that you could have sat with barely anything on and not felt the freezing air surrounding you. I’m sure we can all remember what we were chanting to a wound up Mr Rooney – but I will leave you to think about that. Lets just hope and pray this Saturday evening can be as thrilling, if not more so.
On the injury side of things David Moyes could have a headache after Marcus Bent picked up a knock to his knee last weekend at Highbury, and therefore he is doubtful. For Blues though, things are getting brighter and brighter…Clinton Morrison has worked extremely hard, and is now in the frame for this weekend after a successful week of solid training. Also Bruce will have an easier job with Stanley and Muzzy both back, and relishing the chance to help Blues’ poor league position.
My colleague (SkyDaz) and I share the same view prediction wise, last week I predicted us to lose, so this weekend I will do exactly that. Lets just wait and see if this theory works. I’m under no illusions that it will be tough, and again Blues will need to try really hard - playing for each other to get their hands on all three points.
This week I will go for an away win.
