Blues Vs Charlton Prediction

Last updated : 14 September 2004 By Leigh Whitehouse

On Monday night Charlton entertained Southampton at home – but failed to score. It ended up 0-0. It was a game short on quality, although matters did liven up in the second half after a dreary first half that hardly warranted a cheer from a crowd enduring what was unofficially perhaps the first night of winter.

It will be interesting to see Bryan Hughes this weekend up against his old club – will he perform? Lets just hope not! This raises the question…’didn’t Hughes move to get regular first team football?’ Well, he only made the bench for Charlton on Monday night, coming on after an hour – replacing Kishishev. It will also be interesting to see what kind of reception Hughes gets, after all he was rather unfair towards the club, and kept his options open far too much for Brucie’s liking.

Charlton have added quite well to their squad this summer, with the additions of Danny Murphy, Dennis Rommedahl, Bryan Hughes and Francis Jeffers – all a hand full.

David Dunn is hoping to put his injuries behind him this weekend and prove how influential he really is to the Blues’ midfield. It is believed Stan (injured), Clapham (injured), and Anderton (fitness) will not be included this weekend, but with Robbie back, and Dunn looking likely to return all guns will be blazing…our midfield will certainly look sharp, energetic and very exciting.

Blues seriously do need to buckle down, and get back to basics – before we start to play attractive football, at the end of the day does it matter how unattractive the football is, just as long as we get those 3 points on our tally at the end of the match – who cares?

As I’ve said before ALL games in the premiership are challenging, and on their day ANY team can beat another, that’s what the premiership is all about – a league of great teams and players.

Monday 2 November 2003 saw blues lose 2-1 at home to Charlton, lets hope this will improve this weekend, and I’m sure it will.

Blues being at home, and the return of two influential players seems inevitable that Blues will win rather comfortably…

therefore this week I feel it will be a home win (3-0)
