Media reports were suggesting the Dane could be a target for Blues boss Steve Bruce when the transfer window re-opens in January but the player has said he has already decided to stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge. "I decided this summer that I would give it a go with the new squad at Chelsea therefore, it would be odd to leave now, Gronkjaer told Danish paper BT. "I believe these kind of rumours come because the transfer window opens soon and I have only got two years left on my contract. "I have been happy during my time at Chelsea, and I certainly expect to stay.
"It would also have been more natural to move during the summer when there were big changes in the squad, rather than now when I get a fair share of playing."
