Reports on some websites had suggested that the one month loan deal that would take Williams back to his former club had been completed but Blues have comfirmed that talks are still on-going, no paperwork has yet been signed and the deal has not yet been concluded.
Williams has played in just four games for Blues since joining the club from Barry Fry's side in March 2002 and spent the whole of last season and the early part of this season on loan at second division QPR.
He has recently returned to action by playing a couple of games for Keith Bertchins reserves side.
The decision to allow Williams out on-loan (if the deal is concluded) may come as a surprise to Blues fans because with Jamie Clapham missing the last two games with a hamstring injury, Mat Sadler extending his loan spell at Northampton and Martin Grainger still struggling with a knee injury Blues boss Steve Bruce has been using winger Stan Lazaridis in the left back role.Tom Williams Date of birth 8 July 1980 Height 5.11 Place of birth Carshalton Weight 12.6 Nationality English Position Defence Nickname Squad No. 20 Recent Career History By Club (1999 onwards) Team Debut Apps (+ sub) Goals Yellows Reds QPR 13/08/2002 31 (6) 1 5 0 Birmingham 15/03/2002 4 (0) 0 0 0 Peterborough 28/04/2001 37 (6) 2 8 0 Walton 05/02/2000 1 (1) 0 0 0 Recent Career History By Season (1999 onwards) Season First App. Apps (+ sub) Goals Yellows Reds 2003/2004 09/08/2003 4 (1) 0 0 0 2002/2003 13/08/2002 27 (5) 1 5 0 2001/2002 11/08/2001 40 (5) 2 7 0 2000/2001 28/04/2001 1 (1) 0 1 0 1999/2000 05/02/2000 1 (1) 0 0 0 Appearances 73 (+ 13 as sub); Goals 3; Yellow cards 13; Red cards 0
