“It’s time everyone cooled down," said Savage.
"Things are said and done in the heat of a match and Monday was no exception. But let’s move on.
“Birmingham is a great football city, packed with passionate players and fans. We all want to win, so let’s channel that drive into getting the results our clubs deserve.”
Blues boss Steve Bruce revealed Savage had received menacing calls on his mobile phone and threatening letters have been delivered to the player's home.
"Robbie is very perturbed,' he told the Daily Mirror. "He doesn't know which way to turn because, despite his image, underneath it all he's as soft as anything.
"Apart from this website nonsense with people posting death threats, someone has got hold of his mobile phone number and is sticking in calls every hour of the day and night.
"And on top of that he's had letters shoved through his front door promising all sorts. The poor kid doesn't know where to turn.
"You could also add on the fact that Robbie's wife is four weeks away from giving birth to their first baby."
