Tilton Will Be One Big Senegal Flag

Last updated : 25 October 2002 By Brian Cartlidge
Blues fans in that end of the ground will be instructed by the stadium announcer to hold up coloured cards which will depict the national flag of Senegal.

A small group of fans have got together under the name of the 'Aliou Cisse Tribute Committee' to make this happen on Saturday.

A committee member said: "The plans that we have announced earlier to portray the Senegal flag across the Tilton are going ahead, to clarify for everyone we contacted the club with regard to our plans before announcing them to try to make sure that what was being suggested would not be against Cisse's wishes.

"You may have seen the article on the offical site that stated Cisse did not feel that a minute's silence would be appropriate, but that he welcomed anyone who wished to show Senegal flags in support of the disaster.

"The cards have been supplied by a private company and the printing has been
carried out by H W Owen of Sparkbrook, without charge to the committee, we
are very grateful for this support.

"The committee also strongly felt that we should demonstrate support for the
disaster and not just plan a gesture for Cisse, that is why we are arranging
the charity collection for the Bolton game.

"For those who have offered their support with the arrangements to distribute
the cards on Saturday, further details will follow by e-mail to you, to confirm that you can help and to let you know where to meet and at what time.
Thank You - KRO"

The Committee are now looking for volunteers to help with the flag distribution.
If you can help with this perhaps you could
EMAIL CO-ORDINATOR for further info. They are looking for people to be at the club by 10.45am on Saturday morning to help with the card distribution.
