Taylor ready to fight for No.1 slot

Taylor's season long loan deal from Fulham was finalised on Friday afternoon and the Northern Ireland international went straight into the side and played the full ninety minutes of the friendly with Real Mallorca at St. Andrew's on Saturday.

However, the German born keeper is under no illusions that he face a battle to claim the number one slot from Ian Bennett and Nico Vaesen, when he returns from injury.

"There is great competition and I am not guaranteed a starting role," he told the clubs official website.

"Yes, it would be great to be involved in the opening Premiership game at Tottenham but I know Benno. He is a top quality keeper and has been here a long time. It is going to be extremely difficult for me to get in.

"He wants the position as much as I do. Hopefully that will bring out the best in the both of us."
