Blues' downfall this season, as every fan knows, has been scoring goals and so Bruce is hopeful of nabbing a striker in the Christophe Dugarry or Mikael Forssell fold, two forwards who over the past two seasons helped keep Blues in the Premier League.
The loss through injury of Forssell has been a major blow and this has never been more evident than in the last three fixtures where Blues have dominated the opposition, possession wise, but failed to capitalise because of their failure to score goals.
Nil in the 'goals for' column in those three games has seen Blues collect just one point which, with no disrespect to Southampton and Crystal Palace, really should have been six and exit this seasons Carling Cup after a home defeat against Fulham.
Now Bruce is hoping his scouts can spot a striker that could come in during the January transfer window and bag the goals that would lift the side away from the lower reaches of the Premier League table.
Finding one in the Forssell/Dugarry mould is going to prove difficult however, I'm sure!
