The Blues wing-back limped out of the FA Cup 3rd round tie against Leeds at the beginning of the month and despite stepping up his training with a view to returning to manager Steve Bruce's squad for the game against Fulham, he has suffered a recurrence on the injury this week and will miss the game against Chris Colemans side at St Andrew's on saturday.
Bruce will also be without the services of centre-back Matty Upson as he serves a one game ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Charlton last weekend.
Martin Taylor looks the likely choice to deputise for the England international.
