Souness' side arrived at St. Andrews having totally embarrassed Blues in a Premiership fixture with a flattering 4-0 win back on December 6th but the cup result proved to be a complete reversal of that game with Blues running out worthy winners by the same scoreline, much to the disappointment of the Rovers boss. "We knew we would be meeting an aggressive team but unfortunately we did not get the message across to enough players . "We didn't win many individual battles and collectively we were out-fought and outplayed."
"We tried to get the message across before the game that we would be up against a Birmingham side we had embarrassed four weeks ago," he said after the game.
