The French striker underwent an operation on the knee in August but has been troubled by the injury since returning to the side. "The aim is to get him back on the training pitch in the new year and we hope he can get back to the kind of form he showed last season."
Now, after visiting a specialist earlier this week, it has been decided that he will undergo a series of injections over the next three weeks in a bid to clear up the injury.
"It has been a frustrating time for him and us. He has not been able to play at his best because of the handicap with his knee," said Blues boss Steve Bruce.
"We are going to go down the line of Christophe having a series of injections over the next 20-odd days and we hope that they will do the trick for his knee.
