Following a collision with the visitors goalkeeper and a defender, Savage suffered an ankle injury and fears were that he had sustained long-term ligament damage and would not play for Blues again this season.
However, results of scans carried out on the injury on Monday have revealed that Savage has only strained the ligaments and will be sidelined for about three weeks.
Savage begins a two-game suspension as from this Saturday and so misses Blues trip to Tottenham and also the visit of Sunderland next week.
If all goes well then, Savage should be in contention for a place in Steve Bruce's squad for the away game at Charlton on April 19th or alternatively the home game with Southampton two days later.
