Savage: I hope the lads get three points

Savage picked up the injury during Blues' goalless draw with Fulham on Sunday – a game Wales manager Mark Hughes wanted him to miss - when he collided with Cottager's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Talking to BBC Radio Five Live, Savage said: "I wanted to play for Birmingham and for Wales on Wednesday, so it‘s disappointing.”

“I hope the lads get a result because if they don‘t I feel I have let them down a bit.”

“I hope the lads get three points because if they don‘t then all our hard work against Finland and Italy will got to waste,” he said.
