Savage 50-50 for Sunderland clash

Checks on Savage's injured groin have revealed that the problem is not as bad as first feared - rubbishing reports of a three-week spell on the sidelines for the Wales international player.

"My groin is still very sore but thankfully it's not as bad as we originally thought," he said.

"The first 48 hours after the Fulham game on Sunday was always going to be crucial and it has settled down somewhat.

"I was never going to be able to play for Wales today (Wednesday) but my chances for Sunderland are probably 50-50, depending on how I fare the rest of the week."
