The Blues central defender already had a two-game suspension upcoming after reaching ten bookings for the season in Tuesday night's home match with Manchester City.
Purse will now have to serve a three-match ban which will see him miss the games away at Coventry (March 24), the home clash wiith Grimsby Town (March 30) and the away match at Crystal Palace (April 1).
