Purse will continue his comeback from an ankle injury, which has kept him sidelined for over three months, with his fourth game in a fortnight when he plays for Blues reserves in the Birmingham Senior Cup semi final against Walsall at the Bescot on Monday night.

“I’ve tried to get as many games under my belt as possible because the more you play, the fitter you get,” Purse told the Birmingham Evening Mail.

“My last reserve game was on Thursday and I came through the 90 minutes okay so I’m happy with what I’ve managed to do so far.

“If the manager asks me if I think I’m ready for Saturday then I’ll tell him yes, as it stands now.”

Team for Senior Cup Semi-Final: Marriott, Beauchamp, M Johnson, Hughes, Purse, Vickers, Allen, Grondin, Curtis, Barrowman, Gilbert. Subs: Hipkiss, Doyle, Motteram, Till, Luckett.

The winners of this game will play either Wolves or Moor Green in the final.
