Blues record signing came in for some verbal abuse from the home support but had the last laugh by scoring a superb goal to give Blues a 2-1 half-time lead and silence the Burnley fans.
“David Dunn looks like a very good player and you can see why we have spent the money we have on him on this performance,” Bruce said after the 2-2 draw with the Clarets.
“He can score a goal, he’s a big powerful lad who will be a good acquisition for us I am sure.”
Bruce was also pleased to come away from Turf Moor with no injury worries to the squad with just two weeks to go before the real action begins in the Premiership.
“All we are looking at is the chance to use all the squad,” he said.
“We made vast changes to it today, but there was a decent balance to us and we looked okay.
“Bare in mind that we are a week behind Burnley and we have had a tiring sort of week with the travelling.
“The main thing is that we didn’t pick up any injuries and the fitness levels are right. We need to give the players every opportunity of being right in two weeks time when we play Tottenham.”
