Following on from a 20 minute substitutes appearance for Sean McCaffrey's side in their 3-2 defeat against the Ukraine on Tuesday, the young Blues defender equalised for the Irish with a good header after they had gone a goal down early in the second half.
Painter's goal proved fruitless however as the young Ireland side eventually lost the game 3-2.
McCaffrey had praise for the young Blues defender after his first full ninety minutes for the Under 19's: “Marcus looks like he will be a top quality defender," he said.
"Don Givens spotted him at Birmingham and reckons he has what it takes.
"For his debut he did brilliant and got a goal as well. He’s under 19 again next year as well.”
The Republic Of Ireland U19's play their third and final game of the tournament against Norway U19's on saturday.
