The Scotland international striker had been expected to return to the first team fold in the not-too-distant future having undergone an operation on a groin injury at the end of last year. "I think Garry is going to be out for another two or three weeks. He's had a little problem with stiffness around about his groin," McLeish has said.
However, Blues boss Alex McLeish has revealed that it could be another three weeks before O'Connor is available for selection.
"He had that operation and he's come back, but he's not kicking fully through the ball and you can see there is still a bit of a tentative look about him."
O'Connor's last appearance for Blues came in the game against Sheffield Wednesday on 25th October when he scored twice in a 3-1 home win but just three days later he sustained the groin injury during the warm-up ahead of the match against QPR at Loftus Road.
