Blues are reported to have held talks with United chiefs about a possible £5 million deal to bring Butt to St. Andrews while Everton boss David Moyes has confirmed his interest in taking the England international midfielder to Goodison. "If we can make it happen we would like to make it happen, but we are not close to that, I don't want to mislead anyone," Gibson told Sky Sports News. "Whether it can happen or if it is realistic, time will tell. "If it is right for us, the player and the selling club there is a possibility it could happen. It is something we would like to happen. "He is a fantastic player. Steve knows him and how good he is and he would be a fantastic asset to this club."
Now 'Boro chairman Steve Gibson has also confirmed that his manager, Steve McClaren, is interested in the Manchester United star.
So, it seems that Steve Bruce and the the Board are going to have to use all their undoubted persuasive powers if Blues are hoping to lure 29-year-old Butt to St. Andrews.
