Sven-Göran Eriksson named his 23-man squad for the finals in Portugal this lunchtime and the Blues centre-half, who has gained six England caps already, is not amongst those selected.
Upson has however been named as one of the standby players along with Richard Wright (Everton), Gareth Southgate (Middlesbrough), Jermaine Defoe (Spurs), Alan Smith (Leeds) and Scott Parker (Chelsea).
Blues could have an England representative in the finals however if Emile Heskey completes his proposed move to St Andrews in the next forty-eight hours as is being widely reported.
Full Squad: James (Man City), Robinson (Spurs), Walker (Leicester), Bridge (Chelsea), G. Neville (Man Utd), Campbell (Arsenal), Carragher (Liverpool), A.Cole (Arsenal), King (Spurs), P. Neville (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Beckham (Real Madrid), Butt (Man Utd), J. Cole (Chelsea), Dyer (Newcastle), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Lampard (Chelsea), Scholes (Man Utd), Heskey (Liverpool), Owen (Liverpool), Rooney (Everton), Vassell ( Aston Villa).
