The Belgian keeper played his last game for the Gills in their 1-0 home win against Bradford City last weekend and has now returned to St. Andrews with praise from Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler. "It was good for him and good for us and he obviously goes back to Birmingham with our best wishes. "I will be speaking to Steve Bruce in the next couple of days to thank him as well.
"I spoke to Nico after the game and thanked him for what he’d done for this football club," Hessenthaler told his clubs official website.
"He played five games for us, we won three of them and he did us a massive favour.
"Nico enjoyed his time here and we enjoyed having him here."
