The Republic of Ireland international right-back had only just returned to action in the 1-1 home draw against Cardiff City last weekend after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
However, he has now picked up an ankle injury during training this week and is unlikely to have recovered in time for the game against The Seasiders which was originally due to be played two weeks ago but was postponed because of a frozen pitch at Bloomfield Road.
It just goes to show how fortunes can change so quickly in football. Last season Kelly was the only outfield player to complete a full ninety minutes of every Premier League game whilst this season he has managed just three starts and four substitutes appearance's!
