The Dutch full-back, who joined Blues on a Bosman free transfer in the close season, comes up against the side he spent five years at when he makes his home debut at St Andrews on Saturday.
"Its going to be good," the Blues right back told Sky Sports News.
"Obviously when you play against guys that you have played with for years, some I played a long time with and some I met just last season, its a great feeling.
"At the end of the day though when the referee blows the whistle even if they know me and I know them I want to win."
Another former Chelsea player, Jesper Gronkjaer, is also likely to line-up against his old club for the first time in Blues first home game of the season but striker Mikael Forssell is not allowed to play against the side he is on a season long loan from.
