The Blues full-back appeared to be in the thick of the melee close to the final whistle when Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie lost his cool and reports have suggested that the arguments continued into the St Andrew's tunnel after the final whistle. ''Close to the end of the match I did a few tricks on the ball for the Blues fans because I was having a good time out there and enjoying the victory,'' the Dutch international told Sky Sports. ''It was a good opportunity to show the supporters something different. ''Unfortunately, it seemed to create an argument at the final whistle which is now being investigated by The FA. ''I think the matter has been blown out of proportion. As far as I'm concerned nothing happened in the tunnel.''
Melchiot, who towards the end of the Blues' 2-0 win displayed some of silky skills by showboating down by the corner flag, claims that nothing happened in the tunnel after the game.
