The veteran striker made it three goals from three starts with a superb volley in Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Bolton.
That made it 2-2 and, although Lee Chung-yong scored a late winner for the visitors, Phillips felt Blues' below-strength side deserved plenty of credit.
The 37-year-old told the club's official website: "All I can do when I'm given the chance is try and do well. I really enjoyed it on Saturday and I thought I was getting stronger as the game went on.
"It's not bad, three starts and three goals this season - you can't argue with that.
"It was a good cup tie considering we were up against it with injuries. The lads put in a superb effort but unfortunately we conceded late on, which was disappointing."
