King Kenny

King Kenny
With Cunningham in the side - he's played in five of the six Premier League games so far this season - Blues have not conceded a goal.

In the 2-0 victory over Pompey on Saturday the Blues new skipper was awesome, the timing of his tackles, the blocks he got in, the bringing the ball out of defence and most of all the calming influence.

A look at what Singing The Blues reporter Richard Barker says about the Republic of Ireland defender in his match reports, player ratings, sums up what has to be Steve Bruce's best buy since taking over the managers job at St. Andrew's:

Against Spurs - Excellent
Against Southampton - Superb
Against Newcastle - Absolutely Magnificent

'King Kenny' then sat out the Fulham game with a groin injury picked up while away on international duty and Blues conceded twice in his absence - their only goals against so far this season.

And so back to the Player Ratings:

Against Leeds - No surprises that his return led to another clean sheet
Against Portsmouth - Seemingly gets better game by game; magnificent

I was at St. Andrew's on Saturday, but someone who was listening to the game live on the radio said that ex-Blues defender Kevan Broadhurst described Cunningham as the best defender on the books at St. Andrew's since the days of Colin Todd, a glowing tribute to any defender.

Need I say more? Yes. Kenny, Kenny, Kenny, Kenny Cuningham!
