The Blues midfielder has not played since being sent-off for deliberate handball in the home game against Everton in November whereafter he underwent surgery on a knee injury sustained a month earlier against Newcastle United and didn't re-appear for the remainder of the campaign.
Now, after eight months out and with just 10 appearances to his name since joining from Leicester City last summer, the 30-year-old Turkey international looks set to begin his comeback in Blues' final game of their Norwegian tour against Bran Bergen on Tuesday.
"Muzzy's been looking good and he might well just play a part tomorrow," Blues boss Steve Bruce says in Monday nights Birmingham Evening Mail.
"We've deliberately not rushed him into anything, for obvious reasons, as we've got to look at the bigger picture."
