The combative Blues midfielder has begun light training following an operation on the knee injury he originally sustained in the home draw with Newcastle United back in October.
Izzet, despite making two appearances following the initial lay-off, has not bee seen in a Blues shirt since his sending off in the home game against Everon on 13th November having suffered a recurrence on the knee injury during training.
He was forced to undergo keyhole surgery on the injury but Blues boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that Izzet has now begun running again but he is still at least two weeks away from a possible first team recall.
