Hull City 1 - Blues 4

As was the case at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek the game at the KC Stadium kicked off 15 minutes late this time because of traffic problems on the M1 motorway.

Clinton Morrison headed Blues into the lead after just 14 minutes and summer signing Muzzy Izzet doubled their lead on 35 minutes as Blues went in at half time two-up.

With just 30 seconds of the second half gone Blues went three goals up following a good one-two between Julian Gray and Emile Heskey. The Blues' wingers effort rolled across goal but Tigers defender Damien Delaney helped it across the line.

Robbie Savage gave Blues a 4-0 lead just after from the penalty spot and Hull grabbed what proved just to be just a consolation goal through substitute Stuart Green 15 minutes from time.

Summer signing Jesper Gronkjaer made his Blues bow when he replaced Damien Johnson with 28 minutes remaining.
