Hughsie, one of Blues' longest serving players, is out of contract at St. Andrews at the end of this season but Bruce has confirmed that the club have offered the former Wrexham player a new deal which he hopes will be accepted.
"He's come in over the last three months and as reminded us of his ability. There's no person in the football club with more ability than Hughsie," the Blues boss said after the 2-0 win against Bolton, in which Hughsie bagged his third goal of the season.
"His contract is finished at the end of the season and we've made him a really decent offer, as far as I'm concerned.
"I genuinely hope he stays because he's got great ability."
