Heskey completed his move to St Andrew's in a club record £6.25million deal before flying out on a family holiday to New York after which he will be linking up with the England party ahead of the Euro 2004 championships in June.
"Birmingham are a progressive and ambitious club and very much going in the right direction," the England international hitman told the clubs official website, www.bcfc.com
"They are also building within a sensible framework without throwing money around and jeopardising the future of the club.
"I'm keen to play as an out-and-out striker which I haven't done since my second season at Liverpool and Steve (Bruce) as made it clear that is the role he sees for me.
"I'm also looking forward to linking up with Mikael Forssell. I've been very impressed with what I've seen of him and I think we can create an effective partnership."
